Can I straighten my son's hair without a flat iron?

My son is 14.. He has very curly hair and he hates it and wants to try straightening it .. It is short styled on the sides but curly and a bit poofy and frizzy on top. What can we do at home so we can see what it will look like straight before I do anything drastic like give him a relaxer or something similarly ';permanent'; ?? I believe that it is too short to try my flat iron - any good straightening products that will work with the blow dry method?? Styling tips and how to's appreciated - Thanks!!!!Can I straighten my son's hair without a flat iron?
I would take him to to a good quality salon and have someone professional think of a style to suit him.and makes him happy.

There are many products they would have also to help with his style...

I have a feeling if something goes wrong when you do it..ie..a home straighting System..or flat iron..the teasing he will get from looking so funny..(that is a reality at that age..they will zone in straight away on something like that)..he will be crushed.

Spring the money for a good stylist. Can I straighten my son's hair without a flat iron?
I straighten my sons hair and it was horrible looking. I used a flat iron and it just stuck straight up on his head. Clairol (if I spelled it right) use to have a thing on their website to where you can upload a photo and check different colors of hair, you will be able to do a straight style also if the are still offering this.
I use water to flatten mine...
