Does anyone know how to straighten hair with a bigger flat iron?

my hair is a little past my shoulders in the front and a couple inches longer in the back. i only have a big hair straightener, not one of the thin ones.Does anyone know how to straighten hair with a bigger flat iron?
Big and thin it makes no difference. =]

Just plug in straighten sections of your hair at a time, for a smoother look.
