Question about straightening hair with flat irons...?

Ok....so I'm a 15 year old guy and I just bought my first Hair Straightener...Lol

Do I have to use a heat protector before straightening my hair?

And Can you recommend one...

Also what about after??

Do I need to use anything after I've straightened it?

And If you guys have any advice how do I straighten the hair in the back??

Cuz it's like not long and I can't see if I'm doing it right...LolQuestion about straightening hair with flat irons...?
Deffinately use a heat protector, I use got2be sleek and styled. It's about $4 at a drug store. It works really really well.

Don't use anything after you've straightened it. It will be fine. If you add stuff, it may curl.

I use a comb to lift the hair at the back of my guy friends head, and clamp the straightener on it before it falls back down.

Have fun! :)Question about straightening hair with flat irons...?
Use a heat protection spray, haha.

and try to straighten it in the back, then look in a mirror.

Oh, and you don't need to use anything for after it.

:]
products:

it all depends on your hair type.

ojon is the best.

as for the back of your head, lol:

you'll get used to straighting it after a while.

at first i would set a mirror in front of me and behind me,

so that way you can see the back of your head while you're doing it.
yes you do. it's most important to use a heat protector other wise your hair will get damaged.

i would use dove heat protector. it's the best one so far and i use it. it's only about 3.00 and it's light weight and doesn't make your hair feel greasy.

TIP: always spray your heat protector before blow dry and before flat iron. you don't need to soak your hair just spray a mist over your hair twice and comb it in.

spraying heat protector before you flat iron locks in the hair's moister and prevents damage. don't freak out if you hear sizzling noises or see steam. it's not damaging your hair.
Use heat protecting spray, Redken has some good ones or you could just find some at a drug store or wal mart.

You can use hair spray afterward but it may make it a little stiff.

For the back, grab a hand mirror and turn away from the other mirror on the wall, then try to find the back of your head in the small mirror. Then you will be able to see what you are doing.

Good luck with your first straightner, hope it makes your hair sexy(:

Please answer mine;D

You don't NEED a heat protection product, people just use them to keep the hair soft and kinda in place.

Nor do you NEED and after product.

For my hair [which is probably much longer] i just hold the hair straight out and use the iron. If you're concerned about how it looks ask someone. =]
okay so you can use heat protecting spray but you don't have to and for straightening your back you will get used to it, also you don't have to use anything after and i advise that you dont stick to much hair into the straightener or you will end up pulling on your hair if it looks to straightened the just take a brush to that part of your hair then go over it one more time. You should also so not press to hard or you will end up leaving dents in your hair. Also there sources should help well have fun and i hope it work out for you
