How do I straighten my hair without a relaxer?

I want my hair really straight but I don't want it to break off and get as damaged as it would with a relaxer. I need a method that is quick because it takes nearly 4 hours to straighten my hair well with a a flat iron. I'm black and I have ethnic hair (it's really really curly). Any ideas?How do I straighten my hair without a relaxer?
my hair used to take that long to straighten. then i got it cut. and now it takes about 30 min. to a hour. What i did is when to a salon and bought some products that can calm down your hair, and straightening gel. Thats seemed to work a ton. And the thing that helped the most was i bought a wider straightener. It helps alot. and make sure that your straightener is set on high. it wont damage your hair as much as some oil treatments do. or there's those really really good straighteners at the mall it's like two hundred.. maybe less.. it might seem expensive but it works really good. you should go and ask them to try it out on you. if you like the outcome then buy it. (; orr... use a different shampoo and conditioner?? i use dove, it makes my hair really smooth and silky.. i have really thick hair and a lot of it! so it take me a while to straighten my hair too. :/ but yeahh. try em out. Try a different flat iron, because some are better than others. I've heard the maxiglide is good for african-american hair types. Your hair can still break off and become damaged from all the heat. Try getting a straight sew-in and avoid all the damage to your hair.
My friend has curly hair also and it also takes 4 hours.But she uses like a heat protection spray before she straightens it %26amp; she also deep conditions like twice a month. She won't wash her hair for 2-3 days since she wants to keep the hair straightened. I hope this helped :}
You can wrap your hair (youtube has tons of videos on how to wrap your hair). I'm relaxed and I have been wrapping my hair for the past 2 months with no heat and my hair comes out straight all the time.

After it is wet brush it and blowdry it and then you could divide it into sections and then straiten it. You just keep going over it really quickly so it wont get damaged!
it wont break off or get damaged if you get someone who actually knows how to do a perm and you actually take proper care of it
