I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it seems like whatever I do, my hair still is poofy. I wash it with a good shampoo and conditiioner, I use straighten cream when I use my flat iron. It's not a chi but it gets just as hot as a chi. Wrapping it doesn't work. My hair is soft but still poofy. Please help me, with any advice on what to do, any products that work well on african american hair. Any shampoos, conditioners I should try. Please I'm desperate.Help!!! How to get rid of my poofy african american hair with flat iron?
Try using Motions shampoo and conditioner and also the the spray on leave in conditioner. They moisturize really good and may help with your frizz and poofy problem. Also it could be the weather where you live is humid and its causing problems with hair. Try going to a black hair care specialist or call one and see hat they suggest. You might need a hair relaxer too. Here is a link that might be helpful. Good Luck!!Help!!! How to get rid of my poofy african american hair with flat iron?
You might need to do some sort of chemical treatment at a salon, otherwise, try:
Blowdrying first. Using a round brush while blow trying will pull and straighten the hair out, but it'll probably still be poofy and rounded and not so awesome looking after that. So, once its COMPLETELY dry, use the straightener. Make sure you use small sections, it straightens better that way. Once thats all done, use another straightening cream... I recommend Redken No. 5... or any other redken product. They work like a dream.
Now, if this doesn't work.. You probably need to put some chemicals in there to relax it. I'm sorry! I did my best.
have you considered getting a hair relax?
Try Godhead Silky Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner fro Beauty 4 Ashes
Well, first of all I would suggest ';Anti-Poof'; by sun-silk, mainly because sun-silk seems to work wonders for anyone and everyone. Second of all, I would suggest Garnier Fructis' sleek and shine line. They have a shampoo, conditioner and leave in that works wonders for me. I would test both if I were you because even though I like the GF stuff, it makes some peoples hair greasy.
Oh, and if your going to straighten it, I would invest in Redken's 'Cat Treatment'. It's a protein treatment for people who heat style their hair often. It keeps it from breaking off. You just have to put it in once a week and leave it in for about fifteen minutes then rinse it out.
Best of luck!
