I can straighten my hair with a flat iron and it looks great, but on the top of my head, I have all these little hairs that stick right up and won't go down with any syrum or nothing....which in all just defeats the point of trying to make your hair look nice especially for a great occasion. Try using a hair serum to smooth out and fix the fly away hair.. John Frieda has a good hair serum.
maybe try a better quality straightener? or mouse when you hair is still wet. i don't really know what to tell you since you say that no hair serums work. you'll just have to keep experimenting.
